This academic year saw Sehliselo Ndlovu join the Department of Mining and Geological Engineering. An expert in mineral processing and hydrometallurgy, Ndlovu holds a PhD from Imperial College, London.

She joined the college from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, where she was a professor and the DSI/NRF SARChI Chair Holder in Hydrometallurgy. Ndlovu, past president of the Southern Africa Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, has authored more than 80 peer-reviewed journal papers and two textbooks.
