Higher Ed Analyst Ranks MGE a Top Mining Program

The University of Arizona's mineral and mining engineering program was ranked No. 41 globally and No. 6 in the U.S.

The global higher education analyst Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) recognized the University of Arizona's mineral and mining engineering program as a top program both nationally and globally. Released April 10, the QS rankings provide independent comparative analysis on the performance of more than 16,000 individual programs at more than 1,500 universities in 96 locations around the world, across 55 academic disciplines and five broad subject areas (arts and humanities, engineering and technology, life sciences and medicine, natural sciences, social sciences and management).

The college's mineral and mining engineering program ranked No. 6 in the U.S. among both private and public universities, and tied for No. 41 globally. 

"The opportunities for our graduates are incredible," said Kray Luxbacher, the Gregory H. and Lisa S. Boyce Leadership Chair of Mining and Geological Engineering. "They're choosing from multiple offers, working around the world, and emerging as leaders in environmentally responsible technology."

Mining students at the UA can participate in clubs like the Society for Mining, Metallurgy, and Exploration and Women in Mining.
