KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Safety, Health, Environment and Community
• Promote and demonstrate safe behavior at all times
• Comply with the site’s standards and procedures in SHEC
• Demonstrate effective performance in achieving agreed SHEC goals in support of the department, site and company standards
• Demonstrates leadership in SHEC through personal behaviors and conversations, and report all SHEC incidents and participate in SHEC initiatives
• Take responsibility for the safety of all personnel, including yourself, at Nyrstar Tennessee Mines
• Develops plans and schedules in consideration of Statutory requirements

Mine Planning and Scheduling

Achieve mine production targets by:
• providing and coordinating effective short term plans and schedules
• coordinate with Mine Operations to generate required tonnage and grade
• ensuring effectiveness and safe productivity of the mine
• monitoring actual performance against targets and taking corrective action to maintain targets
• collect and analyze daily production data
• carry out engineering projects as required
• Improving Mine standards, providing safe, timely, efficient and cost-effective designs for production stoping
• Support Mine and Survey with required development plans and design commentaries for planned stopes
• Provide planning and design of auxiliary services, such as egress, ventilation, electrical, drainage, water supply, compressed air
• Prepare and maintain explosives forecasting system Optimize development design and scheduled rates of advance to enable achievement of the annual plan
• Complete Production Schedules and identify the major constraints and possible solutions
• Monitor performance of production operations and identify areas of improvement

Provide progressive development of mining operations through:
• keeping up to date with new developments in techniques and data processing
• reviewing and implementing new techniques and procedures that will streamline the process
• Adjusting mine designs when required
• acquisition of assets / consumables in liaison with both Mine Superintendent and Purchasing Section

People and Organization
• Support the team to build requisite structures
• Work with the team to ensure the long term viability of the team
• Support team members in their personal development
• Proactively seeks to understand the roles and the needs of other team members
• Work collaboratively with mine production and geology departments and assist other functional areas to achieve their objectives
• Actively participate in team discussions and decisions
• Ensure a cost conscious culture is practiced by team members
• Provide specialist technical advice to the team in areas of competence
• Work with the team to seek options and to anticipate future requirements related to all accountabilities associated with this role

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
• BS degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline
• 3-5 years’ experience in underground mining

COMPETENCIES
• Self-motivated, energetic and proactive
• High level of initiative, resourcefulness and personal organization
• Understanding of underground mine design and mine design software (Minesite preferred)
• Working knowledge of practical ventilation and ventilation simulation (VnetPC preferred)
• Working knowledge of practical rock mechanics/roof control techniques for shallow dipping ore bodies.
• Working knowledge of mine electrical power systems & pumping systems
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Project, and Word. (Access or other data base programs beneficial)
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD required (experience with Promine a plus)
• Good time management and prioritization skills
• Results driven achiever with exemplary planning and organization skills
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Sound methods and approaches to persuade, convince or influence others
